Kroon’s started
off as a hobby in a back yard in Pretoria in 1976 in an
effort to earn pocket money. It started off by targeting a
very volatile vendor market and a small abattoir was built
to lend stability to this market. With the right price,
friendly service, hard work and perseverance it blossomed
into a lucrative business soon bursting at its seams and in
1986 the first chicken houses and an abattoir was built at
Wildebeesthoek in the de Wildt area. The initial stage was
the brainchild of Pauline Kroon and in 1986 she was joined
by her husband Robert Kroon.
All the
building and maintenance operations were in the capable
hands of Robert and Pauline continued managing and growing
the production, abattoir and marketing of the birds.
In 1995 Jacques
Kroon, the eldest son, started in the building and
maintenance operation, gradually taking over from his father
and he erected the new environmentally controlled houses
which boast with the latest technical equipment and
technique in chicken rearing. He also keeps the abattoir up
to standard to comply with HACCP and HAS approval.
In 1997 the
second son Charl Kroon joined the company, first in the
financial department and soon into abattoir management,
after obtaining his meat inspectors diploma. He is in charge
of marketing and has become the operational manager of
Kroon’s.
In 2001
Michelle Burger, only daughter, also joined the company and
became logistics and despatch manager and in recent times
has spent her efforts in abattoir management.
We regard ourselves as
extremely blessed that our whole family can build this
company and by the Grace of God are in a position to help
and assist the community with projects we are involved
in. |
